Year 3 students of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Programme (BSN3) underwent pre-clinical placement skill assessment at the Nursing Laboratory of Mong Ha Campus on 16 October. Sixty-three students participated in the assessment; 15 teachers were responsible for the assessment process and 2 Laboratory Attendants assisted with roll call and equipment arrangements.

The pre-clinical placement skill assessment is a preview of the Objective Structured Clinical Assessment (OSCA). The examining contents included assessments of respiratory system, circulatory system, musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal, urinary system and nervous system and corresponding nursing skills. The duration of assessment for each student was 45 minutes.

College has very strict requirements for students to be assessed and meetings are called for discussions on assessment criteria and specifications before and after the assessment. Nursing students also have high expectation of themselves, not only to pass the assessment, but also to avoid making mistakes and to implement their skills with benevolence, care and respect. It is inevitable for nursing students to be assessed throughout their years of studies, but it is believed that they will fully and continuously equip themselves to overcome every challenge.
