Chair of Board of Directors of Macau Alzheimer's Disease Association (MADA) and Associate Professor of Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC) Zeng Wen recently paid a visit to Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Alexis Tam Chon Veng to initiate discussions on the services for older persons and actions for preventing and controlling dementia in Macao.

To address the social issues arising from ageing society, care for older persons is set as one of the four major policies of KWNC which, in close collaboration with MADA, has been working to promote the development of local ageing services for a long period of time. This year, the "Benevolence Lights up my Later Life: A Tailored Meta-programme to Face with Ageing Population in Macau" marks its 5th anniversary of launching, where a number of researches and social services have been conducted throughout the years, exerting positive impact on the community. On account of the contributions of the Programme, the prevention and control of dementia is included as one of the prioritized policies in the SAR Government's Policy Address in the past 6 consecutive years, as well as in the first 5th Development Plan of the SAR Government. In addition, cross-institutional and cross-disciplinary collaborations on the tackling of ageing society are gradually in place.
