After the catastrophic typhoon "Hato" hit Macao, Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau cancelled the Reopening Ceremony and classes, and dispatched all staff and students to streets, schools, social services organisations to get the city recovered.   Plenty of youngsters, students, organisations joined the volunteer team.

As nursing education institute, KWNC strongly recommends all volunteers to take sufficient self-protection measure and to maintain personal hygiene by following the safety advice listed below:

1. Drink a bottle of water to hydrate your body in advanced to prevent losing too much water through sweat.
2. After or during your work, remove your gloves and sterilise your hands with alcohol-based handrub or disinfectant wipes before
drinking water.   Please hydrate yourself from time to time to prevent heatstroke.
3. Put on both double-layer plastic gloves and labour gloves.
4. Use shovel while cleaning up sharp objects like glasses and debris.
5. Sharp objects should be put into plastic boxes instead of garbage bags so as not to hurt the people who move the garbage bags.
6. Wear clothes that you plan to dispose.   Keep your ankle protected as the areas between the ends of trousers and shoes are
vulnerable to cuts (wear long trousers and plastic shoes that cover all toes are recommended).
7. Thoroughly disinfect your hands and face, as well as other exposed body parts before returning home.   Change into clean clothes
    before going back to home.
8. Prepare water and towel in rucksack, wear hat while working under strong sunlight.   For people who study medicine or health,
bring simple wound-caring tools to help others.
9. Give out garbage bags when you see citizens cleaning up wastes, teach people to tie up the garbage bags and put them in places
    where garbage trucks can access.
10. Work within your capacity and take good protection measures.   You can only help others when you have taken good care of
    yourself.

There was also a huge amount of irresponsibly dumped waste, which aggravated the situation and threatened people's health.   Please share this notice to your neighbourhood and your friends!   Each and every one of you are the key of Macao's recovery!
