Representatives of the People’s Government of Sichuan Province Visits KWNC Where They Express Concerns in Social Ageing Issues

A delegation from the People's Government of Sichuan Province under the lead of Vice Governor Yang Xingping visited to Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC) in the afternoon of 27 September, 2017, to study about the nursing education development in Macao. Warmly welcomed by College representatives including Vice-President Xing Zhihong, Deputy Executive Officer of Research Management and Development Department Zhu Mingxia, Deputy Executive Officer of Extramural Studies Department Lei Wai In, Associate Professor Zeng Wen and Lecturer Lau Gar Bo, both institutions went on active discussions regarding issues of social ageing and elderly care.

KWNC Vice-President Xing Zhihong opined that there have been close connections between Panzhihua University in Sichuan and KWNC. A collaboration agreement was also signed between the two institutions last December, emphasizing the concerns both paid for social ageing and elderly care issues. In tackling ageing issues in the society, KWNC has been contributing much effort on the project named "Benevolence Lights up my Later Life: A Tailored Meta-programme to Face with Ageing Population in Macau". In addition, comprehensive publicity on dementia care in the community, including provision of dementia screening service is also established. Training programmes including "Training Course for In-home Elderly Caregivers", "Certificate Programme in Applied Gerontology (CAG)", and "Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Nursing (PDAN) Programme (specialized in gerontology)" are also organized. Vice Governor Yang Xingping agreed to the fact that Sichuan is also facing an ageing society, therefore the goal of implementing an optimal living and health care environment for older people is critical.

Delegates from the People's Government of Sichuan Province included Director General of Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Sichuan (ATCMS) Tian Xingjun, Director Xu Tao and Deputy Officer Zhang Yu of ATCMS Technology Property Department, President of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Yu Shuguang, Secretary of the Administration Department of the People's Government of Sichuan Province Zhang Yishuai, Assistant of the Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao S.A.R. Shao Bin and Deputy Head Xia Jing.
