KWNC Organizes Tea Gathering to Commemorate Adviser Chau Kam Leng

It has been 10 years since the former President and Adviser Chau Kam Leng of Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC) had passed away. To commemorate her, the College organized a tea gathering on 25 October, 2017 at Grand Plaza Chinese Restaurant. Macao SAR Chief Executive Dr. Fernando Chui Sai On, Kiang Wu Charitable Association (KWCA) Chair Liu Chak Wan, Vice-Chair Hoi Sai Iun and Ma Iao Hang, Board of Director Chairman Lau Veng Seng, KWNC President Van Iat Kio as well as members and friends of the institutions took part in the gathering to praise for the spirit and greatness of Adviser Chau. It is hoped that through this event, colleagues are encouraged and enforced by her spirits so as to keep up with the contributions in health care industry and the community.
 
Chief Executive Dr. Fernando Chui Sai On, KWCA Chair Liu Chak Wan, Vice-Chair Hoi Sai Iun and KWNC Presdient Van Iat Kio gave speeches about their memorable moments with Adviser Chau respectively. They unanimously recognized and appreciated the outstanding works and contributions of Adviser Chau, who had devoted 60 years of her life to Kiang Wu Hospital and the College. Amongst the tremendous works she had done, her devotions as the President and Adviser for Kiang Wu Nursing and Midwifery School of Macau had marked an important milestone. Leading the College team, they encountered various difficulties; they walked with the times and transformed the College into a tertiary education institute, providing more and higher education opportunities for the industry. Her selfless, patriotic and noble spirits should be forever remembered and respected.
  
Chief Executive Dr. Fernando Chui Sai On recalled his time teaching public health for the College when it was still in its former structure. He remembered the times when he and Adviser Chau worked together to promote the College's academic accreditation and succeeded in the first programme validation in 1997. Such moments had witnessed the revolution of the College, and Dr. Chui highly recognized the contributions of Adviser Chau to education and the community. KWCA Chair Liu Chak Wan opined that Adviser Chau was a very assertive scholar from whom the younger generation should learn. KWCA Vice-Chair Hoi Sai Iun witnessed the progress of College and appreciated the times while working with Adviser Chau whom he thought was an unbeatable forerunner. KWNC President Van Iat Kio expressed gratitude to Adviser Chau for her efforts in pushing College forward. She believed that Adviser Chau would always be a role model and she hoped that through this event, teachers and students were able to know more about Adviser Chau and learn from her upstanding, ambitious and cohesive personalities. As the College will be celebrating its 95th Anniversary next year, President Van encouraged all members of College to forge forward with Adviser Chau's mottos to develop programmes of higher quality in order to get prepared for the upcoming Islands District Medical Complex. 

Guests presenting in the event also included Chief of the Office of the Chief Executive O Lam, Vice-Chair of KWCA Board of Directors Ung Pui Kun, Board Member Chan Kam Meng, KWNC Vice-President Xing Zhihong, family and friends of Adviser Chau Kam Leng as well as KWNC teachers, staff and students, totaling about 70 participants. To mark the 10th commemoration for Adviser Chau Kam Leng, KWNC has published a book of wise words to praise Adviser's famous philosophy of life so that our younger generation can learn her wisdom. The booklet is now available for taking for free at College on a first-come-first-served basis.
