The Graduation Ceremony for Academic Year 2017/2018 of Extramural Studies Department was held on 13 July 2018 at the Lecture Theatre of Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC). Nearly 300 students of four programmes, namely "Fundamental Health Care Training Programme", "Professional Post-natal Care Course (recognition equivalent to the national intermediate-level post-natal caregiver)", "Advanced Health Care Training Programme", and "Health Care Course" jointly organized by KWNC and Escola Luso-Chinesa Técnico-Profissional (ELCTP) have been awarded certificates.
KWNC President Van Iat Kio, Vice-President Xing Zhihong, ELCTP Director Chan Ieng Lon, and Alumni Association of KWNC & KWNMS President Leong Pou Heng, guests of the two institutions, teachers, students and their families were present to witness the ceremony.
KWNC Vice-President Xing Zhihong and ELCTP Director Chan Ieng Lon noted that the common goal of a healthy society in the social development could be a means of achieving personal health management. Vice-President Xing Zhihong expressed her hope that students could not only gain knowledge and skills from the programme, but also improve their physical, mental, social and spiritual well-being and show care and consideration to others. With the second graduation of "Health Care Course", she believed that the penetration of professional courses into secondary schools could enable students' understanding of the relevant industries, explore their interests and plan careers at the early stage.
President Chan Ieng Lon was pleased that students could support the medical services in Macao as caregivers and five graduates would also continue their studies in medical related disciplines. In addition, he mentioned that the "Vocational and Technical Education System" was now entering the stage of consultation and revision, in which all sectors were encouraged to voice their opinions for the promotion of Macao's diversified development and contribute to the establishment of a healthy and harmonious society.
A graduate of the "High School Health Care Course", Lin Szu Yi expressed that reviewing vocational and technological education over the past three years was not only a matter of intellectual improvement, but also a process to learn the truth of life which enabled them to find their goals in life. Firmly convinced that "accomplishment can be achieved with initial aspiration", she hoped to become pride in teachers' heart in the future.
The number of students having completed the extramural programmes included: 110 students of "Fundamental Health Care Training Programme", 89 students of "Professional Post-natal Care Course", 59 students of "Advanced Health Care Training Programme" and 13 graduates of "Health Care Course".
