A ten-member delegation led by the Mr. Lau Veng Seng, Chair of Board of Directors of Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC) were warmly received during their visit with Dr. Chui Sai On, Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region and Mr. Ho Hau Wah, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference on 9th November 2018.
Chief Executive Chui Sai On and Vice Chairman of CPPCC National Committee Ho Hau Wah extended congratulations on the KWNC's 95th anniversary and recognized the achievements of the College during the past years, including leading the development of the nursing education, contributing to the cultivation of nursing talents and supporting the medical system in Macao. Chief Executive Chui Sai On indicated that the cultivation of nursing talents was a vital area of Macao's development in which the Macao SAR government would continue to support the development of local tertiary education and improvement of human resources. He was confident that the new teaching building of the College would create good conditions for health professionals in Macao and assist in the cultivation of more excellent nursing talents. Vice Chairman of CPPCC National Committee Ho Hau Wah pointed out that the allocation of talents was the key to sustainable social development. The continuous improvement of College's conditions of schooling would attract more ambitious young people to study nursing, and uplift and brighten the Kiang Wu brand and nursing profession in the future. In addition, he also encouraged students to cherish the opportunity to study abroad and absorb different cultures and experience.
Chairman of Board of Directors of the College Lau Veng Seng and KWNC President Van Iat Kio extended their gratitude to the Macao SAR government and the community for their support. The Ho family contributed funds for the construction of Cheng-Kai Memorial Hall during the most difficult phase of the College in the 1950s, laying a good foundation for future development and talent cultivation of the College. In the recent years of the entering tertiary education, the College has made considerable development in terms of student scale, types and levels of courses, as well as quality of schooling. KWNC will shoulder the expectations of the country and the Macao SAR government for the development of the local healthcare industry, construction of the "Belt and Road" and "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area", promote the communication between Portuguese-speaking countries, cooperation and exchanges between nursing education and health, uphold the educational philosophy of "From Personhood to Benevolence", cultivate nursing talents who shows love for the country and Macao and become the backbone of the Macao's medical system, when looking ahead to the completion and opening of the new campus in the next two years.
