Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC) signed a cooperation agreement with Lisbon School of Nursing of Portugal on 3rd December 2018. This is the second time to establish cooperation with Portuguese institutions after a memorandum of cooperation was signed among University Centre of Coimbra Hospital, Hospital da Luz Lisboa and the College last year.
The signing ceremony took place at the Economic and Commercial Delegation of Macau in Portugal. KWNC President Van Iat Kio and President of Lisbon School of Nursing, Professor Filomena Gaspar signed a cooperation agreement under the witness of Ms. O Tin Lin, Director of Macao Economic and Trade Office in Lisbon.
Director O Tin Lin has fully recognized the achievements of the College in the course of 95 years of schooling in terms of cultivation of nursing professionals, promotion of medical and healthcare development, and positive contributions to the successful implementation of "One Country, Two Systems" in Macao. She also indicated that the agreement signed between the College and Lisbon School of Nursing would definitely help cultivate more excellent medical care professionals with international vision, talents and virtues. Furthermore, it can help further highlight the features of schooling and continuously improve the standard and quality of schooling. The College will actively integrate into the overall situation of national development, seize the opportunity of the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, give full play to their strengths, as well as enhance the exchanges and cooperation, synergetic development with higher education institutions in Portugal to strive for new heights.
Professor Filomena Gaspar indicated that she was pleased to have the opportunity to collaborate with higher education institutions in Macao. She mentioned that Portugal and Macao have maintained a close relationship because of the historical background. With the continuous development of China, the cooperation and exchanges between higher education institutions in China and Portugal have been tightened, and she hoped that a closer relation would be established with the College in order to cultivate more nursing talents for Macao.
KWNC President Van Iat Kio was very pleased that a cooperation agreement has been successfully signed between the College and Lisbon School of Nursing in Portugal. A great deal of gratitude was owed to Director O Tin Lin who served as a significant role in bridging the cooperation between the two institutions. KWNC will strengthen the cooperation with Portugal and advance the internationalization of the College in accordance with national policies and advantages of developmental strategies the "One Centre, One Platform" in Macao.
