“Lecture on Chinese Culture 3”: Fragrant Tea Leaves and Tender Buds

 "Lecture on Chinese Culture 3" took place at Mong Ha Campus of Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC) on 18th January 2019. Ms. Chan Pui Lan, President of Tea Art Professionals' Association of Macao was invited to speak on the "Fragrant Tea Leaves and Tender Buds" while four tea sommeliers demonstrated art of tea.

The lecture was presided by Lecturer Lau Gar Bo who made an introduction to President Chan Pui Lan and members of the association. President Chan Pui Lan walked the audience through tea culture, tea morality, art of tea and tea ceremony, as well as varieties, connotation, nutrition and etiquette of tea in order to foster students’ interest in tea and deepen their understanding in tea aesthetic. In addition, she also mentioned that developing an interest in tea could improve personal temperance and promote the quality of life.

One of the tea sommeliers, Mr. Pok Lok has given an improvisational performance of tea art where audience could experience beauty of tea and attitude toward tea through music, tea tasting and tea wares. The delightful process, including tea brewing, tea serving and tea tasting was presented through brewing a pot of delicate Dan Chong tea. Moreover, three tea sommeliers exquisitely brewed Lapsang Souchong black tea and Terasawa tea for students which brought them enjoyment of sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch.
