KWNC Succeeds in Expanding Development in the Greater Bay Area as Four Cooperation Projects Were Signed at the Second Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Health Cooperation Conference

On 25 February 2019, KWNC President Van Iat Kio successfully signed four cooperation projects at the Second Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Health Cooperation Conference. Contracts signed covered Specialised Nursing, Intelligent Production, Academics and Research for Nursing, Geriatric Nursing as well as Integration of Nursing, Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine. Among them, Specialised Nursing and Intelligent Production, Academics and Research for Nursing have been selected by the Conference as two representative projects and their cooperation contracts were signed and exchanged at the opening ceremony.

The Conference was held in Shenzhen, and this was the first time that the College has participated in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Health Cooperation Conference since the Central Committee has announced the Development Plan for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Together with the Guangdong Nursing Association, Guangdong Nurses Association, Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shenzhen Municipal Nursing Society, the Hong Kong Academy of Nursing and the Hong Kong College of Gerontology Nursing, etc. totalling 17 of medical institutions, universities and professional organizations in the Greater Bay Area, four cooperation projects were signed, including Specialised Nursing Alliance of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Cooperation Platform for Intelligent Nursing Production, Academics and Research of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao, Geriatric Care Alliance of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and Alliance of Integrated Nursing, Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The three regions including Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao will soon carry out a joint project on four aspects namely professional development, education, academic exchange and innovative scientific research to promote high-quality development of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. President Van Iat Kio believes that the successful cooperation in the development of the Greater Bay Area will not only create great opportunities for the College, but also provide a broad communication and learning platform for the master's and specialised nursing students of the College, which will actively enhance the nursing education and talent cultivation in Macao.

At the Conference, the number of contracted cooperation projects reached 62, and the cooperation entities encompassed government departments, medical institutions, universities and professional organizations in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. Compared with the first conference last year, it has the characteristics of large number, high quality, wide scope and comprehensive disciplines. The Conference selected 12 representative projects and exchanged contracts on site, among which two of the College's projects – Specialised Nursing Alliance of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Cooperation Platform for Intelligent Nursing Production, Academics and Research of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao were included. Three parties, including the Health Commission of Guangdong Province, Food and Health Bureau of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of Macao Special Administrative Region also signed the Consensus of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Health Cooperation to achieve people-centred healthcare, promote close cooperation of quality medical resources, strengthen cooperation in the field of public health emergencies, deepen innovative cooperation in Traditional Chinese Medicine, expand cooperation in the field of scientific research and services, and reinforce cooperation among professionals in diagnosis and treatment.

The trip also included a visit to the Library of Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) where President Van was warmly received by Librarian Zhang Jia, who showed her their library equipment and intelligent management.
