The Health Awareness Day 2019, hosted by the WelAnser Centre of Caritas Macau and undertaken by Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau, was held in the Multifunction Room of the College on 2 June, 2019. Four experienced teachers led dozens of nursing students to carry out physical assessments, hold healthcare lectures, health consultations and other activities, all of which gave participants an opportunity to know more about their own health, increase their awareness of maintaining good health, and learn self-health management. There were four sessions all day involving nearly 200 non-Chinese residents who work in Macao.

Vice President Xing Zhihong said that it is of great significance to have a Health Awareness Day to raise people's concern about health as it is everyone's right and obligation. No matter where you are or what you do, you cannot ignore your own health as well as that of others. The Health Awareness Day, which is a project co-operated by both the College and the WelAnser Centre of Caritas Macau, has been held for three consecutive years. It has received strong support from the Philippine Consulate General in Macau and the Vietnam Mutual Aid Association. Each time, hundreds of people attended the event. Lilybeth R. Deapera, Consul General of the Philippines in Macau, also personally did the physical assessment during the event.

Xing continued that Health Awareness Day provides teachers and students with the opportunity to put into practice community health education. While helping others promote health, they enhance their own professional knowledge and skills, deepen their understanding of the nursing profession, and use Mandarin and English in the process to better communicate with different peoples which serve the purpose of combining teaching with service. She expected this annual activity to be held continually.

In addition to the presence of the Philippine Consul General in Macau, the event was also attended by Trần Thị Thu, President of Macao Vietnam Friendship Association, Sin Pui Ieng, Acting Director of WelAnser Centre of Caritas Macau, Mr. Ramon Lamberto C. Pastrana, Ms. Zosima Maria P. Santos and Ms. Jingky C. Bayog, the Philippine Overseas Labour Office Macau SAR.
