Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC) held the ‘KWNC Training Base in Hengqin Branch of Zhuhai People's Hospital of Zhuhai People's Hospital Medical Group Plaque Unveiling Ceremony’ at the Lecture Theater of Main Campus on 28th October 2021, and the College officially has a training base in Hengqin.
Since 2003, the College has been actively promoting collaboration between KWNC and numerous medical institutes in Guangdong Province. Outstanding medical institutes such as the First and Fifth Affiliated Hospital Sun Yat-sen University, the Third Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University and Zhuhai Center for Maternal and Child Health Care have become essential clinical training bases for the College. The experts visit each other’s institutes, teacher and student exchange projects are continuing.
Chair of the College Council Lau Veng Seng believes that the collaboration with Zhuhai People's Hospital Medical Group and the establishment of Hengqin training base are the implementations of the ‘Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area’ to assist in building a healthy Bay Area and to support the ‘General Plan for Building a Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin’. These further encourage the College to provide training courses and exchange activities in nursing, health, and senior care in Guangdong Province, and create wider clinical learning and exchange opportunities. These are also chances for Macao teenagers to understand and grasp the opportunity of medical and nursing development in the Greater Bay Area and integrate into the overall development of the nation.
President of Zhuhai People's Hospital Medical Group Lu Ligong described that this training base in Hengqin Hospital marked a new era for Zhuhai People’s Hospital Medical Group to build a teaching and training system for innovative clinical nursing talents in the Greater Bay Area, employing the combination of Guangdong and Macao medical resources. It was also to achieve the strong integration of the superior resources of Zhuhai clinical nursing teaching and KWNC’s exceptional education and training power. The two institutes will jointly promote advanced teaching and training modes to improve the quality of teaching. He also mentioned that KWNC had a crucial role in the medical and nursing education system in Macao and even in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Through collaboration, geographical advantages can be fully utilized and Hengqin can act as the link to promote in-depth collaboration in Guangdong-Macao medicine. Furthermore, it would have a positive impact on talent training and nursing research for the two institutes.
