The Memory Clinic was set up in January 2013 by Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau. It provides free cognitive assessment service and enquiry hotline for older persons in Macao aged 65 or above who are suspected of developing dementia. These two services have received high recognition from the community as they provide a variety of information including knowledge, caring skills and problem resolutions on dementia as well as useful contact information. Since 2016, KWNC has joined forces with Dr. Stanley Ho Medical Development Foundation and Macau Alzheimer's Disease Association (MADA) to further develop the services of the Clinic, of which assessors are sent to elderly centers for screening from December 2016 to June 2017. The screening data will be collected and analyzed for follow-up actions.

Services
Cognitive assessment is conducted by qualified assessors of the Memory Clinic. The entire assessment takes one to two hours (participation of caregivers required).  Caregivers will be asked about the typical cognitive deficiency symptoms and the history of diseases of the elderly, as well as the family and community support systems for them. Assessment tools will then be used to evaluate their attention, short-term memory and working memory, etc. Their physical, psychological and social conditions will also be reviewed in detail. Based on the assessment results, an overall preliminary diagnosis is made.
