Fundamental Health Care Training Programme 
Objectives

As one of the members of medical and nursing team, health care personnel   should be equipped with relevant knowledge to facilitate daily work and   cooperate with other team members to provide clients with effective and high-   quality health care services. The Fundamental Health Care Training Programme   aims at enhancing students’ health care ability, communication and caring   skills through equipping students with various fundamental health knowledge   and practical skills of health care assistance. Upon completion of the   Programme, it is hoped that students will be able to take good care of each   client by applying the health knowledge and skills that they have learned.

1.    This   programme has 240 learning hours. Students shall achieve a minimum of 80% of   attendance for all subjects and the entire programme in both Level 1 and   Level II for the entitlement to examination.

2.    Pass in all   subjects and the entire programme. 

 

Professional Post-natal Care Course 

Objectives

The Professional Post-natal Care Course aims at preparing students to be   qualified post-natal caregivers who are capable of regaining the physical and   mental health of post-natal clients by offering them tender care on diets,   rest and emotions. Upon completion of the course, students will also be   equipped with infant-caring skills so as to provide quality maternal and   infant care.

1.    This   programme has 30 learning hours. Students shall achieve a minimum of 90% of   attendance for the entire programme for the entitlement to written and   practical examination.

2.    Pass in   written and practical examination.

 

Advanced Health Care Training Programme

Objectives

The Advanced Health Care Training Programme is designed based on the   College's educational philosophy “From Personhood to Benevolence” and the   needs of caregivers on the enhancement of caring knowledge as well as their   job requirements. The programme lays emphasis on the quality of education.   Students are not only required to learn the caring knowledge and skills, but   are also required to understand the significance of humanistic care. Upon   completion of the programme, students are expected to apply the caring   knowledge and skills that they have learned to facilitate the work of the   health care team, offer better care to each client and enhance the overall   caring quality.

 “Evidence Based Nursing Management: Cultivation of Leadership” Course
Description:
Nursing care plays an important part in medical and health care services. An increasing need for clinical care services calls for the enhancement of the managerial skills of nursing managers and other senior personnel. This course is designed with the basis of the research project “Excellent Clinical Nursing Managers and Their Leadership” in addition to past and current analyses of humanistic approach in nursing as well as management concepts. In this course, scholars of the research project are invited to talk about different clinical management situations and relevant handling procedures. It is expected that the learners who have completed this course are trained to become top-notch nursing management personnel.
Duration: 45 hours

 

 Health Care Course (for senior secondary school students)
Description:
This course aims to train participants to become qualified nursing assistants who will be ready for joining the medical nursing team in Macao. The course includes basic health care knowledge, practical nursing and caring skills and communication skills. To further advance participants’ nursing skills, they are given the opportunity to practise what they have learnt in different nursing homes and clinical institutions.

 

Eye and Dental Health of Students
Description:
During September to November 2005, KWNC conducted visual acuity tests for 2,488 primary pupils from 14 schools in Macao. The results showed that primary pupils were prone to myopia due to many factors in their daily life and study habit. The results also showed deteriorating dental health among them. To address this issue, apart from existing eye and dental care promotional activities for primary pupils, Education and Youth Affairs Bureau has run eye care training courses for primary school teachers since 2006 so as to train them to take proper care of the pupils’ health at school. 
Courses of this kind dealing with a wider range of health issues should continue for teachers so that they can gain more knowledge of pupils’ health issues and learn how to handle them more effectively.

Summer Activity – Little First Aider
Description:
In order to let youngsters gain more understanding of first aid, KWNC took part in the 2014 Summer Activity – Little First Aider organized by Education and Youth Affairs Bureau. This interactive course teaches young participants how to apply first aid knowledge and skills when they experience home accidents or injuries and relevant preventive measures. It is also hoped that the participants can learn the spirit of helping others through this course.

Health Statistics Course
Description:
This course is designed for health professionals and researchers to learn about health-related statistics. Participants will be able to acquire basic knowledge of statistics and learn how to use relevant software for the statistics.
