Nursing & Health Education Research Centre

To facilitate the integration of teaching, research and social services, Nursing & Health Education Research Centre (NHC) is set up for students' practice and health education. Currently, it provides services in four health areas. One of them is the Memory Clinic which offers cognitive assessment for older person. Besides, it runs a Self-management Programme for the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients, the Mind Over Old-age Depression Programme as well as the Metatron Check-up / Health Regimen Consultation. These services aim at providing health consultation and assessment for the Macao public and encouraging nursing students to go for those health areas that interest them.

Nursing & Health Education Research Centre (NHC) features an in-home style furnishing, fitted with writing desks, chairs, television, simulated kitchen (with microwaves and cupboards) and office tables for conducting cognitive assessment of dementia and providing social services in a cosy ambience.

Nursing & Health Education Research Centre (NHC) is located on the 16th Floor of the Mong Ha Campus. The Centre includes the Memory Clinic, the Self-management Programme for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Patients, the Mind Over Old-age Depression Programme and the Metatron Check-up / Health Regimen Consultation. All these programmes are conducted in a safe, warm and comfortable environment for assessment. Among them, Memory Clinic has equipment that trains dementia patients' sensory abilities and actions, and strengthens their cognitive ability. The tele-conference facility in the Conference Room also facilitates exchanges with overseas organizations. Besides, the Metatron Check-up / Health Regimen Consultation is to evaluate health condition of the general public through non-invasive low electromagnetic waves. Through the Metatron check-up service and giving health advice, the Programme is aimed at the promotion of health and prevention of diseases among the public. Furthermore, non-invasive therapies like guasha, cupping, massage, warm moxibustion, and intermediate frequency electrotherapy are provided to enhance the health of KWNC academic staff and students and the community at large. It is also a right place for students to practise traditional Chinese medicine clinical nursing.
