Alumna Leong was awarded the Medal of Professional Merit by the Macao
Portuguese Government in 1997

LEONG Sao Chan (Alumna of 10th Session)
Alumna Leong Sao Chan graduated in 1943 and has served Kiang Wu Hospital Charitable Association (KWHCA) for more than half a century. She assumed various posts in Kiang Wu Hospital including Chief of Nursing Department, Deputy Chief of Paediatrics Department and Head of Supporting Service Department. She served as Secretary-General of KWHCA from 1983 and was appointed President of Kiang Wu Nursing and Midwifery School from 1987 to 1988. During her term of office, Alumna Leong spared no efforts in nurturing the school teachers and promoting the hospital development. Thanks to Alumna Leong's tremendous efforts, the School was later promoted to a higher education institution and the Hospital was gradually turned into a large-scale modernized general hospital. In addition to making contributions to the medical and nursing profession, Alumna Leong actively participated in social activities. She once served as the member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and member of the Selection Committee of the first Macao SAR Government. At present, Alumna Leong is the Adviser of KWHCA and is now living in Macao.

CHAU Kam Leng (Alumna of 12th Session)
Alumna Chau Kam Leng graduated in 1947 and had dedicated herself to the medical and nursing profession for more than six decades. Alumna Chau once served as the member of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. In early years, she was the Head of Teaching of Kiang Wu Nursing and Midwifery School, and Chief of Nursing Department and Deputy Chief of the Director's Office of Kiang Wu Hospital. From July 1988 to the end of 1998, Alumna Chau served as the full-time President of Kiang Wu Nursing and Midwifery School and was appointed Adviser of the School in a later stage. During her term of office, President Chau tried her best to advance the School with the times and led the teaching team to go against all challenges and difficulties. Under her visionary leadership, the School was successfully promoted to a higher education institution. President Chau was known to be diligent, persevering and courageous. For decades, her tireless efforts had never ended and she had devoted her whole life to Macao's medical and nursing professions, education and the society at large. Significant contributions were particularly made to the enhancement of qualifications and continuing education of nurses, and the popularization of gerontological nursing trainings. President Chau passed away in Macao in 2007.

Alumna Kok was awarded the Medal of Professional Merit by the Macao Portuguese Government in 1996

KOK Vai I (Alumna of 21st Session)
Alumna Kok Vai I is a graduate of 1955. She was the Head Nurse of Gynaecology and Obstetrics Department and Chief of Nursing Department of Kiang Wu Hospital. During her long-year services, Alumna Kok devoted herself to alleviating clients' discomfort as well as nurturing the new generations of midwives and nurses. Moreover, in an effort to promote and unite the nursing team of Macao, Alumna Kok founded the Nurses Association of Macau in 1986 and has been making continuous efforts to the development of Macao's nursing profession ever since. Now, even after retirement, Alumna Kok actively participates in various activities of nursing associations and the alumni association.
Alumna Kok was awarded the Medal of Professional Merit by the local government in 1996. She considers the award an encouragement. She recalls that although the learning process was difficult, it was her fortune to have received teachers' patient guidance with which she has adopted a positive working attitude. As a result, even having joined the nursing profession for years, Alumna Kok still greatly enjoys her work and tries her best to fulfil patients' needs.

LENG Sou Mui (Alumna of 26th Session)
Alumna Leng Sou Mui graduated in 1960. She once served as the Head Nurse and Supervisor of Gynaecology and Obstetrics Department, Out-patient Department and Emergency Department of Kiang Wu Hospital. Alumna Leng has worked in the nursing field for more than five decades and has always been assiduous and dutiful. In addition to serving hospital patients, Alumna Leng is dedicated to uniting Macao's nursing team. She is the founding Board Member of the Nurses Association of Macau and is currently serving as its Consultant. Now, Alumna Leng has retired but she still makes contributions to the nursing profession by providing nursing services at public institutions. Alumna Leng is currently the Vice-President of the Alumni Association of Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau and the Hospital Kiang Wu Nursing and Midwifery School of Macau.
Alumna Leng received the Medal of Professional Merit from the Macao Government in 1995. She expresses gratitude for the recommendation of the Nurses Association of Macau. Alumna Leng encourages nursing students not to be afraid of hardship, but to work earnestly and serve patients with loving care. She wishes students to keep up their hard work and to surpass their seniors.

WONG Sok Chan (Alumna of 28th Session)
Alumna Wong Sok Chan is a graduate of 1962. She was the Head Nurse of the Gynaecology and Obstetrics Department of Kiang Wu Hospital and has served the department for more than three decades. Alumna Wong is known for her seriousness and conscientiousness at work. Moreover, she has been putting great efforts in uniting Macao's nursing team. She is the founding Board Member of the Nurses Association of Macau and once served as Secretary-General and Vice-President of the Association. After retirement, Alumna Wong still dedicates herself to the community by providing services at nursing homes. At present, she serves as the Honorary President of the Nurses Association of Macau and Vice-Chairman of Board of Directors of the Alumni Association of Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau and the Hospital Kiang Wu Nursing and Midwifery School of Macau.
Alumna Wong was awarded the Medal of Professional Merit by the Macao Government in 1997. She is very grateful for her teachers' guidance and nurture. She is also thankful that she is able to work as a nurse to help others. She wishes that the College will continue to achieve more advancement in education, while students will carry forward the College's philosophy of "From Personhood to Benevolence" and make remarkable achievements.

CHEONG Pui Fong (Alumna of 31st Session)
Alumna Cheong graduated in 1965. She has worked in Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau for several decades, serving as Lecturer, Deputy Head of Teaching and Assistant to Registrar. During the long-year services at the College, she strived to promote teaching reforms, foster the new generation of teachers and give patient guidance to students. Alumna Cheong showed great affection for the College and has made positive contributions to the College's promotion and enhancement of teaching quality.
Alumna Cheong was awarded the Medal of Professional Merit by the Macao Government in 1994. She is grateful for the utmost care and nurture given by the College to whom she believes the recognition should belong. She expresses that working as a nurse has given her a lot of satisfaction and allowed her to lead a meaningful life. Alumna Cheong hopes that the College will carry forward its tradition of excellence and foster a greater number of outstanding talents for the community.

LO Siu Ha (Alumna of 35th Session)
Alumna Lo Siu Ha is a graduate of 1969 and has joined the nursing profession for more than four decades. In recognition of her long-year devotion, she is awarded the Medal of Professional Merit and the Order of Merit in Benevolence by the Macao Government. Moreover, she is awarded the Florence Nightingale Medal, a world-recognized award for nurses, by the International Committee of the Red Cross and becomes the first Macao receiver of this award.
Alumna Lo was the Head Nurse, Supervisor and Chief of Nursing Department of Kiang Wu Hospital. In addition to serving hospital patients, Alumna Lo actively participated in social activities. She spared no efforts in caring about cancer patients, developing hospice care services and motivating in-service trainings for nurses. Now, even after retirement, Alumna Lo keeps up her passion and perseverance in promoting the development of community nursing. Alumna Lo is very grateful for becoming a nurse. She has gained profound life experience by witnessing incidences of birth, age, sickness and death. Alumna Lo encourages nurses to make every effort to do their work well and join together to contribute to the nursing profession.

LEONG Iok Wa (Alumna of 37th Session)
Alumna Leong Iok Wa, graduate of 1970, has joined the nursing profession for more than four decades. During these years, she has been devoting herself to the improvement of Macao's medical and nursing services. In recognition of her significant contributions, she is awarded the Medal of Professional Merit and the Order of Merit in Benevolence by the Macao Government. Alumna Leong once served as a legislator of the Macao SAR, member of the Nurse Licence Commission of Macao Health Services, Chairman of Board of Directors of the Nurses Association of Macau, Board Member of the Chinese Nursing Association and Board Member of the Women's General Association of Macau. Currently, she serves as the Service Director of the Macao Federation of Trade Unions and Vice-President of the Nurses Association of Macau.
Alumna Leong has been decorated twice by the Macao Government. She believes that the awards and recognition should belong to the entire nursing profession. She expresses gratitude to the College and commends on its fortitude in promoting teaching quality even in the face of difficulties. She has great confidence that Macao's nursing profession will continue to make strides under the joint efforts of the College and its alumni. Alumna Leong encourages nursing students to move forward towards their goals, consistently enrich their knowledge and improve themselves.

UNG Pui Kun (Alumna of 39th Session)
Alumna Ung Pui Kun, graduated in 1973, has served Kiang Wu Hospital for over four decades since graduation. At present, Alumna Ung serves as the Director of Kiang Wu Hospital, Vice-President of Board of Directors and General Secretary of KWHCA. In addition, she is the Macao member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Consultant of the Nurses Association of Macau and Honorary President of Nursing Education Association of Macao. Over the past years, Alumna Ung has been committed to promoting the medical and nursing standards and motivating society's advancement. In recognition of Alumna Ung's long-year dedication, she is awarded the Medal of Professional Merit and the Order of Merit in Benevolence by the Macao Government in 1999 and 2013 respectively. Currently, Alumna Ung also serves as the Vice-Chairman of Board of Directors of Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau, and the ex-officio member of the College's Academic Committee, and makes active contributions for the nurture of teaching teams and the development of the College.
Having been awarded twice by the Macao Government, Alumna Ung considers the awards a recognition to her profession. To now, Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau has been established for over 90 years, Alumna Ung wishes the College a greater success in its nurture of nursing professionals. Moreover, she encourages nursing students to work diligently and treat patients with a respectful heart.

Alumna Ma was awarded the Medal for Dedication by the Macao SAR Government in 2002

Estela MA (Alumna of 1st Session of In-Service Bachelor of Science in Nursing Programme)
Alumna Ma is the first batch graduate of the In-Service Bachelor of Science in Nursing Programme of the College. She has dedicated to the medical and nursing profession for more than four decades and has made many positive contributions. At the time when serving as the Chief Supervisor of Nurses of Hospital Centre S. Januario, Alumna Ma was committed to introducing service standardization and enhancing the overall service quality of the Hospital. In addition to making contributions to the Hospital, she was actively involved in various social services. Now, after retirement, Alumna Ma participates in the formulation of Macao's medical policy and serves as the Consultant of Nursing Education Association of Macao. Alumna Ma encourages nursing students to remember the core values of nurses by heart. In spite of difficulties, they should be convinced that they possess endless power to change the nursing profession as well as the whole world.
