What is “Benevolence Scholarship Foundation (BSF)” ?
In order to put into practice the philosophy of benevolence and care, as encouraged and supported by the Board of Directors of Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC), a “Benevolence Scholarship Foundation (BSF)” was established in June 2006 in view of the shortage of nursing manpower in the background of Macao’s rapid development in gaming sector and the increasing number of young casino workers.
The activation fee of BSF came from the balance of previous donations made by various warm-hearted social figures over the years. Since activation, BSF has been operating with the donations from society and great support from individuals and organizations from different fields. The Foundation, serving as a specified appropriation of KWNC for fixed purposes to all students, is used in four aspects under unified administration. Through establishment of BSF, the College aims at raising concerns and encouraging support from social figures in common with teachers and students for Macao’s nursing education development.
1. To help students with financial difficulty to accomplish their studies;
2. To award students who are excellent in both character and learning;
3. To sponsor students in professional learning as well as “biliteracy and trilingualism” studies;
4. To sponsor excellent graduates in further studies.
A. To sponsor excellent Chinese Mainland students with financial difficulty to pursue nursing studies at KWNC so as to enable them to serve their native land with professional knowledge after graduation.
B. To support local students with financial difficulty to study nursing and encourage them to accomplish their studies and launch into nursing career.
To select and grant awards to students who are of good conduct, excellent in learning and clinical practice, with benevolent and serving spirit as well as both competence and integrity based on the College’s scholarship assessment standards.
3. Promotion of Specialty Nursing Development:
Students from the first to fourth year of study are encouraged to participate in the following activities to broaden their vision and achieve holistic education:
A. Clinical study outside Macao
B. Advanced studies in “biliteracy and trilingualism”
C. Medical and nursing symposium
D. Student-volunteered or College-organized visits to impoverished regions
4. Continuous Nursing Education
BSF also sponsors local excellent students in continuous postgraduate studies abroad, in an effort to enhance the nursing professional standards and support the local nursing industry.
All warm-hearted people are welcome to offer support for Macao’s nursing education and contribute effort for the nurture of excellent nurses.
