2. Borrowing

A valid identification document (student card, Library card or ID card) must be presented for borrowing an item.

3. Loan period

Refer to the above tables (1.1 & 1.2).

4. Renewals

Loans may be renewed at the circulation counter, through the e-Library system or by phone or email. The number of renewal for different memberships is listed on above tables (1.1 and 1.2).

5. Items not for loan

Periodicals and journals, dictionaries, theses, encyclopaedias, statistical data, newspapers as well as most of the multimedia materials are not available for loan.

6. Multimedia collection

Most of the multimedia collection may only be used in the Library (except for teaching purposes); however, discs that go with books, as well as some of the films and English learning multimedia materials can be borrowed.

7. Loans and returns

7.1 Students need to borrow items in person. Faculty members may email a loan request to the Library staff naming the title of the item.  Once registered, the requested item(s) will be delivered to the requester via the Logistics Division. Delivery service is once a day.

7.2 Apart from returning the loaned titles to the circulation counter, borrowers may also drop them in the book drop located at the library.

8. Overdue loans and fines

8.1 Loans should be returned in time. Where a borrower fails to return a loaned item that is overdue for more than one month, it will be taken as lost and his/her borrowing privileges will be suspended until it has been returned or a replacement cost paid.

8.2 Fines for overdue items are charged at the rate stated in the above tables and capped at MOP60 per item. All fines must be paid within one month, otherwise the borrowing privileges will be suspended until the fines have been paid.

9. Loss and damage

Where the loaned items (such as books, VCDs, DVDs, videotapes, audiotapes and laptops) are found lost or damaged, the borrower should inform the Library staff as soon as possible, and shall be liable for a replacement cost at the original price of the lost or damaged item. Where the lost item is a disc that goes with a book, the replacement cost shall be 50% of the book’s original price. Where the lost or damaged item is not priced, the replacement cost shall be MOP1/page. In addition, an administrative fee of MOP100 shall be charged for each item.

10. Items recommended for acquisition by students

10.1 The items recommended for the purchase must be related to the academic programmes offered by KWNC.

10.2 The Library will only consider buying those titles that it is not carrying.

10.3 Students can submit a Book Recommendation Form online from the library website.

10.4 The Form will then be forwarded by the library staff to the relevant faculty member(s) for review.

10.5 The requestor will be notified of the review result.

10.6 The requestor will be informed once the item is available at the Library.
