The 48^th WorldSkills Competition was grandly held in Shanghai, China, from 22 to 27 September 2026, with the Closing Ceremony taking place on the evening of 27 September at the Shanghai World Expo Culture Center. After four consecutive days of intensive competition, Chong Iok Lam, a 2022 alumna of Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC), distinguished herself in the highly competitive Health and Social Care skill area with her solid nursing competence and strong sense of humanistic care. She was awarded the Medal of Excellence, bringing international honour to Macao.

Achieving Outstanding Results on Debut and Marking a Milestone for Macao Nursing at WorldSkills
The WorldSkills Competition is the highest-standard and largest vocational skills competition in the world. With the full support and coordination of the Labour Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, KWNC served for the first time as the representative organisation for the Health and Social Care skill area, leading the competitor from Macao, China, onto the international stage.
Representing Macao, China, Chong Iok Lam achieved distinction in her debut appearance in this skill area on the international stage. This not only marks a historic breakthrough for Macao’s nursing sector, but also showcases to the world the outstanding skills and professional excellence of Macao’s young nursing talent.

Competing Against Top Global Competitors Across Four Major Care Settings and 12 Practical Cases
Competition in this year’s Health and Social Care skill area was exceptionally intense, attracting top competitors from 20 countries and regions, including China, Germany, Australia, Thailand, Brazil and the United Arab Emirates.
Over the four-day competition, the scenarios closely simulated real-life care settings. Competitors were required to complete care tasks for 12 complex cases across four core settings: Hospital, Day Care, Residential Care and Home Care.
The competition comprehensively assessed competitors’ professional knowledge, care techniques, clinical adaptability, health education skills, on-site decision-making, cross-cultural communication in an all-English environment, and humanistic care. It posed a demanding test of both knowledge and psychological resilience.
